RUNNING A PHOTOGRAPHY BUSINESS DURING COVID
Covid has proved to be extremely challenging for just about every industry you can think of. Some small businesses have even given up, throwing it to the wall, feeling like there's no other choice for them. It's scary enough running a (new) small business at the best of times.
In this Vlog, I chat to @AndreaVerenini who is a destination wedding photographer and fashion photographer. What's more, during this challenging time Andrea has bagged himself a sought after award (WedAward). This means that he's regarded as one of the best, and I get to chat to him!
Not disregarding the thoughts and feelings of those who have felt it necessary to give up, that in itself takes an enormous amount of strength and courage - so bless you!
Succeeding in getting yourself into a solid headspace and mindset goes an awful long way. Mindset is everything. It determines your attitude and actions towards your business, and that contributes vastly to the result too.
Particularly in a creative industry, it's important to take a step back and review, not only your core job, but the potential revenue streams surrounding it. What are the others things you might be able to do?
As a wedding photographer myself, as well as business coach, I've had to get my creative cap on, and a lot has come up for me. I've managed to do many other photography assignments while the wedding industry has struggled through this 'season'. I have to say, I've thoroughly enjoyed it. People still want photographs, weddings are still happening. Just not on the scale we're accustomed to.
I tell myself this is temporary and we'll get through it.
"Surround yourself with people you admire and things you love to boost your self-motivation......"
This time has given many of us the opportunity to look around and do things differently. To keep connected to our clients who are booked far in advance and give them assurances as best we can.
There are also many people out there who would benefit from learning your skill. So maybe this is a great time to give something back; and to encourage others to find their path. Coaching for creatives and coaching for start ups has really awakened me at this time. I feel I owe it to others to help them through as best I can.
Speaking to Andrea, he has great tips on ploughing through 'Covid season':
Get into it for the right reasons because it's not a quick and easy fix
Surround yourself with people you admire and things you love to boost your self motivation
Be rooted, and re-evaluate what 'success' means to you
Even if you've stopped trading or given up. There's still the opportunity to take stock and review your business in preparation for when industries re-awaken. Everything is temporary.
I'm here for you
If you're feeling like you don't know which way to turn, want to start your business and don't quite know how, or if you're running a small business and are looking for inspiration.... I'm here for you.
Until next time.
